The over 200 year long reign of the Vorlon family has been an era of change. From old beliefs and dark times the vampire society has taken leaps towards a more modern, more equal way of thinking. Keeping of human slaves was forbidden seven years prior to Beau Merrick managing to grasp the throne from the hands of the previous Emperor Of Evil.
This fight over the throne nearly cost Beau his life, but he was saved by his former human slave, current on-off girlfriend Zedenya whom he had turned into a vampire several years before the incident. This bonded the modern vampire lord with the woman and the pair married the day Beau took over the throne. Some even say Zedenya did something to Beau in order to turn him from a casanova into a devoted husband, but such talks are obviously met with violent anger.
From rags to riches, as they say, for Beau has been able to turn the scattered society of petty little criminals into a powerful organization ruling the underworld of the Bridgeport as well as some very worthy businesses. Vorlon family owns the East Tradewind Shipping Co as well as the Sacred Spleen Hospital and the most well-known vampire nightclub Plasma 501. Along this the family owns many smaller buildings and houses often presented as gifts for those close to the family.
Behind the modern curtain, the Vorlon family is actually pretty divided. Beau has always been friendlier and more accepting towards humans whereas his wife Zedenya thinks humans are the source of amusement and food, nothing else. She doesn’t want to be questioned about her origins and has not kept any contact with her former human family, for one reason or another.
The pair has a total of 16 children. Three of their oldest sons are currently seen as the first three Elders; Alphonso, the kind and serious first born, Francesco, the emotionless borderline psychopath and Alessandro, the immoral ladies man that has had bastards more than he has fingers and toes. Vampire bastards have been adopted into the family, human bastards either gotten rid of or raised by their human mothers. Alphonso is the main reason Alessandro’s scandalous way of living hasn’t caused more mayhem and he is considered the only source of force keeping Alessandro in some sort of control.
After 224 years of ruling Beau and Zedenya are finally reaching the end of their reign. Gabriele has been betrothed to Chasity Vorlon-Merrick, a girl bred and raised specifically for this purpose. Her mother is the great granddaughter of Alphonso and his father a great grandson of Alessandro. Zedenya saw this as the ultimate way of combining the best with the best, the wisdom and calmness of Alphonso with the fierce fighting spirit of Alessandro.
The clock is now ticking. Everything is set and the big wheel is spinning, slowly and softly laying the night over the modern era of Beau and preparing for the dawn of Gabriele’s.
