Three Is a Crowd

Vorlon

Arranged marriages don’t always go right, and the start was somewhat awkward for the chosen pair of the vampire society, too.

After the crowning ceremony and passing the throne Chasity, as planned, moved to live with Gabriele and his three Elder brother-in-laws. Despite all their meetings before, the new Emperor felt slightly nervous now that the ethereal beauty he had known as his engaged since she was a child was sleeping in the same bedroom. He had gotten used to the strict rules considering interacting with her and now those safe rules were gone and the society was eagerly expecting to hear about the birth of their first born, the future Head Of The House.

Needles to say, for the first few weeks, Gabriele made sure he was working over time. It wasn’t until he was halfway forced to take a small break when he finally collected all there was left of his self esteem and tried to talk with Chasity. To his great amazement, Chasity revealed she had been glad about the slow start, for she, too, felt somewhat out of herself in the beginning.

The next following months they talked more than anything else and got to know each other again, this time without any rules or outside observers. Eventually, they both found the same interest they had shared before. They turned to friends, and eventually, to lovers.

One and a half years from their wedding the happy news spread around the society; the Emperor and his Queen were expecting a child! Congratulations arrived from all over the Bridgeport, from friends and foes, for everyone wanted to stay on the Emperor’s good side. During the first months of his reign he had already inflicted some changes to the general rules about interacting with humans, and some families known to pose a threat to the Vorlon dynasty had mysteriously disappeared or turned to his almost fanatic followers.

When the pregnancy started showing, the Emperor and the Queen approached The Head Of The House, Alphonso, wanting to know the gender of their child. Having worked in the Medical career for the past seven years (being a vampire he had to change his career every few decades to avoid suspicion from his human accomplishes. He didn’t want them to know about his true, dark nature, specially now that the vampire society spread fear among the humans), Alphonso would be able to determine the gender of the child.

The Queen wished for a daughter, a princess she could pamper, and the Emperor wanted a son as fierce as he himself. Turned out, they would be having a girl.

Times three.

From what had started as an excited expectation the pregnancy turned to a full blown crisis. Chasity, who always managed to stay calm and collected in public, distanced herself from others to be able to think about this all. Gabriele once again escaped to work and contrary to his wife tried his best to avoid thinking about the future at all.

Luckily, the family was big and the help was near. Little by little the fear faded as many close ones offered their help and support. The previous Queen Zedenya helped Chasity to prepare for the birth and by the time of the big day Chasity had come in terms with the idea of having three princesses instead of one.

Gabriele was convinced when he saw his daughters. All doubts disappeared when he held them one by one. Genevre, Fabrizia and Enrica - the future of their family.
