May He Guide Us

Vorlon

At the age of 333, on Christmas Eve, Beau Merrick passed away. The first Emperor Of Evil in his family, a beloved father of 16 and despite his rather wild youth, eventually also a devoted and loving husband.

Beau's era became known as the era of change and modernization. He was quite understanding towards humans and completely forbid the keeping of human slaves. No matter his successor and son Gabriele has old fashioned ways of seeing the world, blood slavery has not been practiced ever since the rule over the vampire society of Bridgeport was seized by the Vorlon family (in which Beau felt like belonging to despite keeping his surname Merrick).

He died surrounded by his family, holding the hand of his wife for over 280 years, Zedenya.

He was buried in the family cemetery right next to Emperor Gabriele's daughter Fabrizia. In his funeral his oldest son, Alphonso, kept a speech. The relationship between Beau and his adopted son was complicated to say the least, but judging by Alphonso's kind words whatever bad blood was there between the two in the past was there no longer during Beau's last years. Alphonso ended his speech in the words "Where ever kinds of us go after Death, may he watch over us from there and may he guide us as we go on. Until I see you again, father. This is not farewell, this is only goodbye."
